Honestly up until recently I was sure Flynn was her father but now that that's not an option I feel like the hostage thing is the only way to go that still makes sense. I'm guessing it's probably gonna end in some sort of Stockholm type thing where Flynn somehow convinces Lucy that he's actually right which be she writes the journal for him.
