Rittenhouse is a mysterious organization with an as yet unknown, but apparently malicious intent. According to Garcia Flynn, the organization murdered his family and set him up to take the fall for the killings. They also seem to be using Rufus Carlin to record the team's missions, again for unknown reasons.

The organization was founded in 1778 by American clockmaker and astronomer David Rittenhouse.

Organization Intent[]

The true intent or purpose of the Rittenhouse organization is currently unknown. It is hinted at, however, that they may have influenced certain key points in history to gain power and further their own interests, though this has not yet been validated. Rittenhouse remains largely, in all its aspects, a mystery.

In the early 1900s, Nicholas Keynes developed a plan for future generations of Rittenhouse members to develop Time Travel. Rittenhouse would then send sleeper agents into the past to embed themselves in society so they could manipulate key moments in history.

It is revealed through Garcia Flynn and Agent Denise Christopher's investigations that Connor Mason had gone bankrupt roughly two years prior to the events of this series, and Rittenhouse secretly wired him $2.5 billion through a dummy corporation in the Cayman Islands to fund Mason Industries' time machine project. It is also revealed that Rittenhouse may be responsible for events such as the assassinations of John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. and that their true goal is to use time machines to go back in time, strategically gaining control over the course of history to allow for the "illusion of freedom" whilst ultimately controlling mankind. Although this type of control is already prevalent, the time machine would allow further control and domination over society and the world as a whole by the organization - essentially allowing for global "tyranny" at the hands of Rittenhouse.
