Wayne Ellis was a guidance officer of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. In the original timeline, Ellis helped with the moon landing.

In the original timeline, Wayne Ellis was part of mission control during the moon landing on July 20, 1969. In 2016, Garcia Flynn and Anthony Bruhl ask him questions about this experience working for NASA under the pretense that they were writing a book. Flynn asks about the security on the day of the moon landing. Ellis explains they got new identification badges with new magnetic strip technology. Flynn asks if Ellis still had the badge. Ellis tells Flynn that he doesn't, but he wishes he still did.

Later, Flynn and Bruhl travel back to 1969 and have one of their henchmen, Jay, kill Ellis for his ID badge. Bruhl edits the badge so it has his information on it, allowing him past security at NASA.
